In order to effectively build on Student Action For Sustainability, this year’s event will extend beyond the one-day conference to include a Policy Workshop in which students’ ideas for sustainability will be translated into a Policy Document that will inform the development of a sustainable and resilient National Capital Region.  In addition to this, we are building the beginnings of a National Capital Region (NCR) Student Network, so that we may continue to share our voice for a sustainable community.

 

SPECTRUM 2009 recognizes that our region’s academic institutions provide us with unprecedented opportunities to engage with undergraduate, graduate and college students who are passionate about their academic field of study and are looking for ways in which they may apply their skills and interests to opportunities that can produce effective change in the community.  Linking the region’s rich academic environment with the community allows us to build a network in which strong student voice informs and helps shape public policy in the region.  The Policy Workshop and the NCR Student Network will extend our partnership with the Choosing our Future initiative after the conference.
